Municipalities may authorize by resolution full-time permanent firefighters on duty or volunteer firefighters off duty to solicit charitable contributions from motorists.

Solicitations are limited to one 501(c)(3) qualified charitable organization per year that is registered as a charity under state law.

Solicitation activities cannot occur for more than three days in any calendar year, whether consecutive or not.

Charitable organizations must provide commercial general liability insurance with a minimum limit of $1,500,000 per occurrence covering bodily injury and property damage on public streets, roads, rights-of-way, or resulting from solicitor activities, and must name the municipality as an additional insured.
