Amends Minnesota Statutes section 144.221 by adding subdivision 4 to allow courts to order amendments to death records found to be incomplete, inaccurate, or false, with the registrar required to amend the vital record upon receipt of the court order.

Amends Minnesota Statutes section 390.23 to clarify that courts may find cause or manner of death information on a death record to be incomplete, inaccurate, or false and order registration of an amendment under the new subdivision 4.

Restricts filing or amending cause or manner of death information for accidental, suicidal, homicidal, violent, or mysterious deaths to county coroners, medical examiners, or forensic pathologists reviewing deaths in Department of Corrections facilities.

Authorizes judges to direct the state registrar to register a death when reasonable proof exists that a death has occurred but no body has been found, using fact of death information provided by court order.

Takes effect the day following final enactment and applies to all death records registered as of January 1, 2001.
