Amends Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 125A.69, subdivision 1 to establish a trial placement provision for students applying to the Minnesota Academy for the Deaf and Minnesota Academy for the Blind.

Allows parents to submit applications for children who reside in Minnesota and meet disability criteria for deafness, hard of hearing status, or visual impairment.

Permits eligible children to attend the Academy for the Blind for a 60-day trial placement, after which academy staff must meet with the child's parent to determine if the academy is the appropriate placement.

Maintains existing admission requirements for permanent placement, including individual education planning team decisions that education cannot be achieved satisfactorily in the student's district and that the academy provides the most appropriate placement within the least restrictive alternative.

Takes effect for the 2010-2011 school year and later.
