• Amends Minnesota Statutes to require the history of organized labor and collective bargaining be included in revised state social studies academic standards and high school graduation requirements, beginning in the 2013-2014 school year.

• Establishes a comprehensive review cycle for state academic standards in mathematics (beginning 2015-2016), arts (2016-2017), science (2017-2018), language arts (2018-2019), and social studies (2019-2020).

• Requires students to complete an algebra I credit by the end of eighth grade and an algebra II credit or equivalent for graduation beginning in 2014-2015; students must also complete a chemistry or physics credit for graduation beginning in 2014-2015.

• Directs school districts and charter schools to revise local standards in health, physical education, world languages, and career and technical education with periodic review cycles at times they determine.

• Takes effect the day following final enactment.
