Storage tank identification tags must be constructed from aluminum, stainless steel, or plastic (at least 3-1/2 inches square) with permanent enamel paint or powder coating in light blue for gasoline, white for alcohol products, and dark green for petroleum distillates.

Identification tags must include product type, octane/grade information, tax status, and gallon capacity for each storage tank, with lettering at least three-eighths inch high and positioned for easy reading.

Biodiesel transferred between refineries, refineries and terminals, or between terminals on a temperature-compensated basis must use federal Code of Federal Regulations method (40 CFR 80.1426(f)(8)(ii)(A)) to determine net quantity in cases of dispute.
