Amends Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 116.49 to allow extension of temporary closure status for underground storage tanks installed after 1991

Permits tank owners to request written extensions from the commissioner after 5 years of out-of-service status, if the system has remained in compliance with applicable rules

Allows the commissioner to grant an initial 5-year extension and one additional 5-year extension (maximum 10 years total) beyond the initial 5-year temporary closure period

Requires the commissioner to revoke extensions if the tank system falls out of compliance with applicable rules, and mandates removal or filling of denied systems

Prohibits returning any underground storage tank system to service without written approval from the commissioner based on compliance with applicable rules
