Health plans must cover private duty nursing services when an inpatient hospital stay would otherwise be required

Private duty nursing services may be subject to the same co-pay, coinsurance, deductible, and cost-sharing provisions as inpatient hospital stays

A period of private duty nursing services must be treated as a single course of treatment without separate cost-sharing charges for each day, hour, provider, location, or service gaps of less than one week

Effective July 1, 2010, applying to health plans offered, sold, issued, or renewed on or after that date
