St. Louis County may sell tax-forfeited land by private sale under exemptions to public sale requirements in Minnesota Statutes chapter 282

Section 1 authorizes private sale of 9 parcels of non-waterfront tax-forfeited land in St. Louis County

Sections 2-8 authorize private and public sales of tax-forfeited land bordering public water, with conservation easements required on most parcels for riparian protection and angler access

Conservation easements must be permanent, granted by the commissioner of revenue prior to sale, and vary from 100 to 200 feet in width depending on the parcel and stream type

The county has determined that returning these lands to private ownership serves the county's land management interests
