School districts are encouraged to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) instruction in their curriculum.

Schools offering CPR or AED instruction must use training developed by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross that incorporates psychomotor skills.

Alternatively, schools may use nationally recognized, evidence-based CPR guidelines that incorporate psychomotor skills to support instruction.
