Modifies school attendance exemptions to allow children with conditions requiring ongoing treatment for mental health diagnoses to be excused from school with proper documentation from a physician or licensed mental health professional.

Clarifies that children with disabilities in day treatment or residential facilities during summer must be automatically eligible for summer school programs under Minnesota statute.

Adds authority for school districts to use safe schools levy funds to pay for mental health crisis intervention team training costs for peace officers and sheriffs who serve as school liaisons, in addition to existing safe schools purposes.

Maintains existing provisions regarding school district responsibility for providing education and transportation services to children with disabilities or temporary illnesses who are placed in care and treatment facilities in other districts.
