Amends Minnesota Statutes section 122A.09, subdivision 4, to require licensed teachers renewing continuing education licenses to include preparation on teaching to academic standards that incorporate contributions of Minnesota Indian Tribes and communities.

Creates an 18-member American Indian education committee appointed by the commissioner of education with assistance from the Indian Affairs Council to advise on American Indian education programs.

Committee membership must include representatives from the 11 reservations, Minnesota Chippewa tribe, tribal bodies, community groups, parents, American Indian administrators and teachers, and persons knowledgeable in American Indian education and closing the achievement gap.

Committee advises the commissioner on duties under sections 124D.71 to 124D.82 and other American Indian education programs as determined by the commissioner.

Committee members receive expense reimbursement according to section 15.059, subdivision 6, with membership terms determined by the commissioner, and the committee has no expiration date.
