Authorizes the Minnesota Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit members to apply for search warrants, removing the previous prohibition on this authority.

Amends Minnesota Statutes section 241.025, subdivision 2, by deleting language that prevented fugitive apprehension unit members from applying for search warrants under section 626.05.

Amends Minnesota Statutes section 626.05, subdivision 2, to include "Minnesota Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Unit member" in the definition of "peace officer" for purposes of search warrant authority.

Maintains that initial processing of arrests by the fugitive apprehension unit remains the unit's responsibility, with subsequent investigations handled by the jurisdiction where any new crime is committed.
