MN HF2007

State auditor shall conduct a feasibility study on consolidating counties in Minnesota and consider conforming county boundaries to state judicial, watershed, and landscape districts.

Study shall examine economic implications of consolidation and rationalization of other internal state boundaries including highway maintenance and regional economic districts.

State auditor must consider the 2012 legislative auditor report on local government consolidation, the 2011 local government innovation forums organized by the Association of Minnesota Counties, and pilot projects from the Minnesota Accountable Government Innovation and Collaboration Act.

State auditor shall report findings to the appropriate legislative committees by January 1, 2013.

Funds are appropriated from the general fund for fiscal year 2013 to the state auditor to conduct the study.
