Eliminates the requirement for school districts to obtain Department of Education approval before purchasing food service equipment from the food service fund.

Retains the single condition that the unreserved balance in the food service fund at the end of the last fiscal year must be greater than the cost of the equipment being purchased.

Removes strikethrough language requiring two conditions (department approval and sufficient fund balance) and replaces with one condition (sufficient fund balance only).

Effective for food service equipment purchases made on or after July 1, 2012.
