Allows electronic prescribing of controlled substances in Schedules II, III, IV, and V, provided prescriptions comply with standards in Minnesota Statutes section 62J.497 and federal Code of Federal Regulations title 21, parts 1300, 1304, 1306, and 1311.

Permits facsimile transmission of controlled substance prescriptions if they comply with applicable requirements in Code of Federal Regulations title 21, part 1306.

Authorizes pharmacies to store original electronic or facsimile prescriptions in electronic databases for at least two years, provided the database allows retrieval of prescriptions as transmitted to the pharmacy.

Maintains existing requirements for Schedule II prescriptions to be printed or written in ink with handwritten prescriber signature, while also allowing electronic or facsimile transmission as permitted.

Clarifies that prescriptions for Schedule III and IV controlled substances may be issued as permitted under the electronic and facsimile transmission standards, with documented consent required for dispensing or refilling.
