Mandates that pharmacists employed by the managing pharmacy review and approve all prescription orders before drugs are dispensed, with pharmacy technicians permitted to perform data entry if a pharmacist certifies accuracy.

Permits access to automated drug distribution systems only to authorized pharmacy and health care personnel; field service technicians may access systems for maintenance while monitored by pharmacy staff or a licensed nurse.

Allows systems to be located outside the managing pharmacy location, with the system considered an extension of the managing pharmacy; pharmacists must supervise systems electronically or in-person and remain continuously available to address issues.
