Minnesota Legislature officially recognizes the Khmer Freedom Fighters of Cambodia for supporting and defending U.S. military forces during the Southeast Asia conflict and for their continued defense of freedom and democracy.

Khmer Freedom Fighters rescued downed U.S. pilots, prevented sensitive military information from falling into enemy hands, gathered intelligence on enemy positions, and provided food and shelter to U.S. forces.

Khmer Freedom Fighters facilitated the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh on April 12, 1975, and continue to face intimidation and danger if identified in Cambodia today.

Legislature urges the President, Congress, and all state legislatures to formally recognize the Khmer Freedom Fighters for their heroic efforts, as they have never received official U.S. government recognition.

Minnesota Secretary of State directed to transmit copies of this memorial to the President, Congress, and legislatures of all other states and to Minnesota's federal representatives.
