Clarifies the Department of Commerce Commissioner's authority to assess investigation costs against natural persons or entities subject to the commissioner's jurisdiction when investigations are ordered by the commissioner.

Specifies that investigation costs are based on the salary costs of investigators or assistants at an average rate per day or fraction thereof, with all collected money deposited into the general fund.

Exempts natural persons or entities licensed under chapters 60K or 82 from being charged investigation costs if the investigation results in no finding of a violation.

Exempts entities already subject to assessment provisions under sections 60A.03 and 60A.031 from the investigation cost assessment clause.

Amends Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 45.027, subdivision 1 to expand the cost-assessment authority to include "entities" in addition to natural persons.
