Students who satisfactorily complete all high school graduation requirements under Minnesota Statutes 120B.07 may graduate early with approval from the student, parent/guardian, and local school officials, and receive a standard high school diploma.

General education revenue for early-graduating students must be paid as though they attended the entire school year, available only once for the remaining portion of the school year not completed.

Students who complete graduation requirements in fewer than four school years, complete a freshman year at an accredited postsecondary institution, or participate in an accredited high school study abroad program in grade 12 are eligible to receive a standard high school diploma.

Students who enlist in the military with an educational component in their enlistment contract may receive a standard high school diploma under school board policy, even if they have not completed all graduation requirements.

School boards must formally adopt, publish, and implement an early graduation policy and annually report the number of standard diplomas issued under this section; students and parents may appeal military enlistment decisions to the commissioner.
