Changes terminology from "biological mother" to "birth mother" in statute 257.541 regarding custody rights of unmarried mothers.

Applies all paternity determination provisions, presumptions, and procedures to maternity determinations, creating parallel rules for establishing maternal parentage.

Exempts assisted reproduction cases from standard custody and paternity rules when pregnancy was initiated by means other than sexual intercourse, with an express written agreement identifying another woman as the intended mother.

Adds presumption of paternity for men intended as legal parents when pregnancy was initiated through assisted reproduction pursuant to a written agreement among all presumptive parents entered into before the pregnancy began.

Effective August 1, 2011, and applies to actions filed on or after that date.
