Reduces the statute of limitations from six years to four years for most civil actions, including contract disputes, statutory liabilities, trespass, property damage, fraud, and trust enforcement.

Maintains the four-year limitation period for actions involving assault, battery, false imprisonment, and other personal injury torts that also constitute domestic abuse under Minnesota Statutes section 518B.01.

Does not apply to actions governed by the Uniform Commercial Code or actions with shorter limitation periods specified in Minnesota Statutes section 541.07.

Takes effect August 1, 2011, and applies only to causes of action occurring or accruing on or after that date.
