School boards prohibited from withholding grades or diplomas from students due to unpaid school lunch debts, effective July 1, 2011.

School districts, charter schools, and nonpublic schools cannot physically segregate, discriminate against, or stigmatize students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.

Schools cannot use special identification methods (special lines, tickets, published name lists) that publicly identify students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Schools cannot deny lunch to eligible students who lack funds or have unpaid lunch debts.

Entities collecting unpaid lunch debts cannot target children directly, withhold educational opportunities, or use collection agencies; must comply with Minnesota debt collection laws and households have right to seek injunctions for violations.
