Amends Minnesota Statutes section 123B.52 to require school food authority contracts with food service management companies to conform to the federal procurement cycle instead of the state procurement cycle.

Limits initial contract terms to one year with an option for the district to renew yearly for up to four additional years, creating a maximum five-year contract period.

Allows school food authorities that obtained new contracts in 2008-2009 and renewed twice to renew a third time for the 2011-2012 school year only as a transitional provision.

Caps total consecutive contract time between school food authorities and food service management companies at four years.

Effective immediately upon final enactment and applies to all new and renewal contracts.
