Increases the distance allowance for the first haul of unprocessed or raw farm products from 50 miles to 100 miles of the place of production or on-farm storage site.

Vehicles transporting unfinished forest products may exceed gross vehicle weight by up to 5 percent without being subject to fees, fines, or penalties during dates set by the commissioner.

Civil penalties for excessive weight violations can only be imposed if a law enforcement officer or motor transportation representative inspects and copies the shipment record within 14 days of receipt and assesses the penalty within 60 days of inspection.

Tow trucks and towing vehicles are exempt from the 1.25 times minimum gross weight requirement and are taxed based on actual equipped weight, excluding the weight of disabled or wrecked vehicles being towed.
