Expands the safety officer survivor education benefit to include graduate degree or certificate programs, in addition to existing undergraduate eligibility.

Removes the previous enrollment cap of nine semesters for undergraduate study and replaces it with a maximum duration specified in subdivision 4 of the statute.

Sets the tuition maximum for graduate study at the same level established by law for four-year state grant programs.

Defines full-time enrollment for graduate programs as eight or more credits per term or the equivalent.

Effective July 1, 2012.
