Minnesota Legislature expresses solidarity with Somali-American residents, the largest concentration in the United States, in their efforts to send remittances to the Horn of Africa.

Banks discontinued money-wiring services to Somali firms in January, cutting off a vital lifeline for millions of Somalis who depend on remittances for food, housing, and health, with 250,000 people facing immediate famine risk.

Legislature urges all parties to find solutions that restore normal remittance flows while maintaining United States safety and security, noting Somali-American money transfer businesses are not accused of breaking any laws.

Secretary of State directed to distribute copies of this resolution to Minnesota's banking community, the President, Congress leadership, relevant federal committees, and Minnesota's congressional delegation.
