Amends Minnesota Statutes section 84.085 to require the commissioner of natural resources to notify donors or their heirs before selling land obtained by gift.

Requires repayment to the donor or heirs of the market value of the gifted land at the time of donation, upon request, within 30 days after the land is sold.

Maintains existing provisions allowing the commissioner to accept gifts of land, money, and personal property for department activities and to reimburse appraisal costs up to $1,500 or $5,000 depending on whether the state paid for a portion of the donated land's value.

Preserves authority to sell or exchange gifted lands as provided in chapter 94 and to accept donations for the permanent school fund.
