Requires applicants for initial nurse licensure, licensure by endorsement, and reregistration to submit to state and national criminal history records checks through a board-contracted private vendor.

Applicants must submit notarized consent forms and fingerprints; the board may charge no more than $25 for fingerprinting and the criminal history records check.

Criminal history records are classified as private data restricted to board use for evaluating licensure eligibility and protected from public records disclosure.

Board may consider 11 factors when reviewing criminal history results, including crime nature, circumstances, time elapsed, rehabilitation evidence, and whether the crime relates to nursing duties.

Board must allow applicants to dispute inaccurate results with documentary evidence and issue a written decision within 30 working days; inaccurate records must be destroyed.
