Amends Minnesota Statutes section 60K.56, subdivision 5 regarding accreditation criteria for insurance agent continuing education courses.

Requires the commissioner to approve continuing education coursework offered by accredited institutions of higher education that impart substantive and procedural knowledge of the insurance field.

Specifies that courses from accredited institutions of higher education shall not be considered company-sponsored courses unless the coursework is restricted to producers of one company or its affiliates.

Maintains existing requirements that insurance producers must pass professional designation examinations to receive full continuing education credit and cannot receive credit for both classroom instruction preparing for an examination and credit for passing that same examination.
