Extends probationary period from one year to three consecutive years for teachers in subsequent districts after initial three-year probationary period in first district.

Requires two-year probationary period for principals and assistant principals, and adds new protections for internally-hired principals to retain teacher continuing contract status and right to return to previous position if not promoted.

Changes minimum teaching service requirement during probationary period from 60 days to 120 days annually, and simplifies evaluation frequency to "periodically throughout" each school year instead of specific day-count requirements.

Allows school boards to exempt certain specialized teachers (Montessori, language immersion, advanced placement, and instrumental/vocal music directors) from mandatory unrequested leave order while maintaining seniority rules within those programs.

Changes notice deadline for non-renewal of probationary teacher contracts from July 1 to June 1, and removes restriction on discharging teachers for specified causes only during school year with four-month advance notice.
