Minnesota Senate officially recognizes and honors the Khmer Freedom Fighters of Cambodia for supporting and defending U.S. military forces during the Southeast Asia conflict and their continued support for the United States and free nations worldwide

Khmer Freedom Fighters rescued downed U.S. pilots, prevented sensitive military information from reaching enemy forces, captured and destroyed enemy supplies, and provided intelligence on enemy troop positions and movements to U.S. military forces

Khmer Freedom Fighters facilitated the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh on April 12, 1975, provided food and shelter to U.S. forces, and defended human rights and freedoms including speech, religion, and representation

Khmer Freedom Fighters remain at risk of intimidation, discrimination, and death if identified in Cambodia today and have never received official recognition from the U.S. government for their heroic efforts

Resolution encourages all other U.S. states to formally recognize the Khmer Freedom Fighters and directs the Senate Secretary to prepare and transmit an authenticated copy to the Governor
