Bill Summary: HF1126

• Expands the definition of "position of authority" to include persons with current or recent duty/responsibility for a child's health, welfare, or supervision within the 180 days immediately preceding the act.

• Applies "current or recent position of authority" language to criminal sexual conduct in the first and second degrees when the actor is more than 48 months older than a complainant aged 13-15.

• Adds new criminal sexual conduct in the third degree offense (subsection p) for school employees, volunteers, or contractors with access to a complainant aged 13-17 who is more than 48 months younger than the actor.

• Adds new criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree offense (subsection p) with identical school employee/volunteer/contractor provisions as third degree offense.

• All amendments effective August 1, 2014, and apply only to crimes committed on or after that date.
