Authorizes the White Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department Relief Association to provide a $2,000 lump sum death benefit from its special fund to the estates of deceased retired members.

Eligible recipients must have completed at least 20 years of firefighting service and relief association membership, retired before January 1, 2009, and were receiving a monthly benefit service pension when the section became effective.

Allows the relief association to implement this benefit only if authorized by amendment to its bylaws.

Overrides existing restrictions in Minnesota Statutes section 424A.05, subdivision 3, clause (4).

Becomes effective upon compliance with Minnesota Statutes section 645.021 by the city of White Bear Lake and its chief clerical officer.
