Amends Minnesota Statutes section 161.465 to expand fire department reimbursement for services on trunk highways and Interstate highways.

Establishes a new reimbursement program for fire departments in towns or cities under 5,000 population that respond to incidents on Interstate highways, providing up to $500 per response upon submission of proof of collection efforts.

Requires fire departments to first attempt collection from the insurer of the person served before collecting from the person directly, and mandates fire departments return any collected amounts to the commissioner up to the reimbursement amount received.

Maintains existing reimbursement for grass fires within trunk highway rights-of-way and fires outside rights-of-way that originated within them, funded from the trunk highway fund.

Effective date of July 1, 2013.
