Amends Minnesota Statutes section 13.82, subdivision 7 to clarify that both law enforcement agencies and prosecutorial authorities maintain criminal investigative data.

Expands the definition of agencies that can collect or create investigative data to prepare cases against persons for crimes or offenses to explicitly include prosecutorial authorities.

Maintains existing classification of investigative data as confidential or protected nonpublic while investigations are active, and public when inactive unless release would jeopardize other investigations or reveal protected identities.

Preserves existing provisions allowing individuals to petition district court for disclosure of active investigative data when public benefit outweighs potential harm to the public, agency, or identified persons.
