Expands peace officer authority to arrest without a warrant for nonfelony violations of protection orders, restraining orders, and no contact orders (sections 518B.01, 609.748, and 629.75) previously issued by a court.

Extends the time limit for probable cause arrests in domestic abuse cases from 24 hours to 72 hours, exclusive of the day probable cause was established.

Allows peace officers to arrest for nonfelony domestic abuse within the 72-hour window even if the assault did not occur in the officer's presence.

Adds new arrest authority allowing officers to make warrantless arrests for nonfelony domestic abuse if probable cause is established within the preceding 72 hours under the general arrest statute (section 629.34).

Effective August 1, 2014, applying to offenses committed on or after that date.
