Amends Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 609.375 to add a definition of "support" as a legal obligation under a support order as defined in section 518A.26, subdivision 21.

Removes references to "care and" from the crime definition, narrowing the nonsupport statute to focus specifically on payment of support obligations rather than broader care provisions.

Removes "or maintenance" language throughout the statute, limiting the application to court-ordered support payments.

Changes singular verb usage in the affirmative defense subdivision from "were" to "was" to match grammatical requirements.

Effective August 1, 2014, applies to crimes committed on or after that date.
