Requires mammography facilities to include a notice in written mammogram result summaries sent to patients with heterogeneously dense or extremely dense breasts as classified by the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System.

Notice must inform patients that dense breast tissue is found in more than 40 percent of women and may make it more difficult to identify precancerous lesions or cancer through mammography.

Notice must advise patients that dense breast tissue may be associated with increased breast cancer risk and should inform conversations with their treating clinician about appropriate screening options.

Applies to facilities as defined under federal law (United States Code, title 42, section 263b(a)(3)(A)) and aligns with federal Mammography Quality Standards Act requirements.

Adds new section 144.1212 to Minnesota Statutes, chapter 144.
