Commissioner of Education shall contract with at least one provider to offer information technology education and broad-based IT certifications to students in grades 9-12.

Commissioner must issue a competitive request for proposals and award contract to make instruction available through participating school districts, charter schools, and intermediate districts.

Provider must deliver research-based curriculum, online access, instructional software, skill certifications across multiple IT areas, teacher professional development, and program support integrated with state academic standards.

$340,000 appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education for fiscal year 2015 to fund the information technology certification partnership.
