Prohibits the State Building Code, State Fire Code, and political subdivisions from requiring mandatory fire sprinkler installation in single-family detached dwellings, two-family dwellings, townhomes, and accessory structures such as garages, patios, decks, porches, and storage sheds

Does not affect existing requirements for smoke detectors, fire detectors, alarms, or their components

Amends Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 299F.01 by adding subdivision 4d

Takes effect the day following final enactment
