Commissioner of Education must consult with experts to assess the content and status of career and technical education programs in Minnesota school districts, intermediate districts, integration districts, and postsecondary institutions.

Assessment must cover 15 specific career and technical program areas including agriculture, construction, business, computer science, health science, manufacturing, and transportation.

Commissioner must examine alignment between secondary and postsecondary education programs, coordination between academic and technical content, and opportunities for secondary students to earn postsecondary credit.

Commissioner must submit a report to the legislature by November 1, 2014, detailing program content, status, student participation and completion rates, and school district resources and postsecondary partnerships.

An unspecified amount from the general fund is appropriated for fiscal year 2015 to the Commissioner of Education to conduct this examination.
