Adds a new subdivision establishing that all paternity determination provisions, presumptions, and procedures under Minnesota Statutes sections 257.51 to 257.74 or 257.75 apply equally to maternity determinations.

Changes terminology from "biological mother" to "birth mother" in custody provisions for unmarried parents, and adds exception when pregnancy was initiated through assisted reproduction with a prior written agreement identifying another person as the intended parent.

Creates a new presumption of paternity when pregnancy was initiated by means other than sexual intercourse and a man was identified as the intended legal parent under an express written agreement signed by all known presumptive parents prior to pregnancy initiation.

Adds an exception to the birth mother's automatic custody rights in cases where assisted reproduction was used pursuant to a written agreement among presumptive parents identifying another person as the intended parent.

Effective August 1, 2014, and applies to actions filed on or after that date.
