Amends Minnesota Statutes section 13.82, subdivision 7 to include prosecutorial authorities alongside law enforcement agencies as entities that maintain criminal investigative data.

Expands the definition of criminal investigative data to include data collected by prosecutorial authorities preparing cases against persons for crimes or offenses.

Maintains existing classification that active investigative data remain confidential or protected nonpublic, while inactive data become public unless release would jeopardize ongoing investigations or reveal protected identities.

Preserves existing procedures allowing district court orders to disclose active investigative data when the benefit to the person requesting disclosure or public outweighs potential harm.

Keeps standards for determining when investigations become inactive: agency decision not to pursue, expiration of statute of limitations or 30 years after offense, or exhaustion of appeal rights.
