Allows civil actions to continue after the death or disability of a party if the cause of action survives or continues, preventing abatement of the action.

Permits injury and non-injury causes of action to survive the death of a party, with the action brought by or against the personal representative or successors in interest of the deceased party.

Preserves the right of personal representatives or successors to pursue wrongful death actions under section 573.02 alongside other causes of action arising from the same occurrence.

Repeals Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 573.01.

All provisions are effective August 1, 2013, and apply only to causes of action commenced on or after that date.
