Adds definitions to Minnesota Nurse Practice Act including "assignment," "delegation," "intervention," "monitoring," "patient," "supervision," and "unlicensed assistive personnel."

Revises definition of "practice of practical nursing" to include 14 specific functions such as focused patient assessment, participation in care plan development, assignment of nursing tasks, and accountability for quality of care.

Revises definition of "practice of professional nursing" to include 17 specific functions such as comprehensive patient assessment, care coordination, delegation of nursing tasks, supervision of nursing practice, and teaching nursing theory and practice.

Modifies section 148.271 to replace "nursing assistant" with "unlicensed assistive person" and adds "or assigned" to describe how nursing-related services may be delegated or assigned under nurse supervision.

Repeals Minnesota Statutes 2012, section 148.171, subdivision 12 and Minnesota Rules, part 6321.0100.
