Establishes gross misdemeanor offense for assaulting a transit operator or intentionally throwing or transferring bodily fluids onto a transit operator while the operator is performing job duties.

Penalty for conviction is imprisonment for not more than one year, a fine of not more than $3,000, or both.

Defines "transit operator" as driver or operator of vehicles providing public transit, light rail transit service, special transportation service under section 473.386, or commuter rail service.

Effective August 1, 2013, and applies to crimes committed on or after that date.
