Amends Minnesota Statutes section 120B.023 to require the history of and events surrounding the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862 be included in elementary and secondary social studies standards.

Mandates the Commissioner of Education incorporate this content into state social studies standards beginning in the 2013-2014 school year.

Applies to all school districts and charter schools as part of revised social studies academic standards and graduation requirements.

Takes effect the day following final enactment.
