Extends felony penalties for fraudulent or improper financing statements to include retaliation against police officers, chiefs of police, and Department of Corrections or local correctional agency officials or employees for performing official duties.

Increases penalty to felony with imprisonment up to five years or fine up to $10,000 when the offense involves retaliation against these law enforcement and corrections personnel.

Adds police officers, chiefs of police, and corrections officials to existing list of protected individuals (judicial officers, prosecutors, defense attorneys, sheriffs, and county recorders) who receive felony-level protection under the statute.

Effective August 1, 2014, and applies to crimes committed on or after that date.
