Postsecondary institutions must file annual reports by November 1 with the Office of Higher Education documenting deaths, accidents, and illnesses requiring hospitalization that occur during study abroad program participation.

Institutions must report annually whether their programs comply with health and safety standards established by the Forum on Education Abroad or similar standard-setting agencies.

The Office of Higher Education must publish institution-specific program reports on its website and post the best available information by country on sexual assaults and criminal acts affecting study abroad participants.

Postsecondary institutions must include in written materials to prospective participants a link to the Office of Higher Education website where program health and safety information is available.

The Office of Higher Education must assess appropriate state regulation of study abroad programs by February 1, 2015, balancing student safety protection with opportunities to study abroad, and report findings to legislative committees.
