Upon initial intake to a correctional facility following felony conviction and sentencing for more than 60 days, the commissioner must attempt to identify inmates receiving service-related disability payments from the Department of Veterans Affairs

The commissioner must notify qualifying disabled veteran inmates of their duty to report their incarceration to the commissioner of veterans affairs

The commissioner must provide VA form 21-4138 to inmates receiving service-related disability benefits and give them a reasonable opportunity to notify their county veteran services officer or the commissioner of veterans affairs

County and regional jail sheriffs must follow the same identification, notification, and form-provision procedures for inmates meeting the same criteria (felony conviction with sentence of at least 60 days)

Both provisions become effective the day following final enactment
